DOTD announces start of $12.6 M rehabilitation project on La. 106 in Evangeline Parish

EVANGELINE PARISH, La. - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that beginning Tuesday, February 18, 2025, construction will commence on a $12.6 million rehabilitation project on La. 106 (St. Landry Highway) from U.S. 167 to the Avoyelles Parish line.
SCOPE OF WORK
This 8.26-mile project will consist of milling asphaltic concrete, roadway reinforcing mesh, subgrade treatment, in-place base rehab, patching, asphalt overlay, replacing drainage structures, steel sheeting, guard rail installation, rumble strips, striping, and related work.
WORK SCHEDULE
Work is estimated to take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.
TRAVEL IMPACTS
Intermittent lane closures will be required to perform the work. Drivers should expect delays. The road will be open to regular traffic with a 12-foot maximum lane restriction on oversized loads passing through the work zone.
There will also be a 60-day road closure event during the project so that crews can perform drainage work and install steel sheet pile walls. The Department will publish a separate press release for the road closure event.
EMERGENCY ACCESS
Emergency vehicles will have access through this area except during the planned road closure event which will be announced.
The project is estimated for completion in December 2025.
