DOTD Monitoring Road Conditions as Hurricane Francine Moves Through the State

Baton Rouge, LA- The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) advises that numerous roads are currently blocked this evening due to downed trees, debris and power lines following Hurricane Francine.
DOTD crews will begin roadway assessments and cleanup operations as soon as conditions allow. Due to hazardous debris and ongoing risks, motorists are strongly advised to refrain from traveling until it is deemed safe.
Additionally, many traffic signals in the area may be without power and thus non-operational. Drivers encountering dark traffic signals should treat these intersections as four-way stops in the absence of law enforcement personnel directing traffic.
DOTD emphasizes the importance of safety. Never drive around “road closed” signs or barricades under any circumstances.
