DOTD announces start of off-system bridge replacement project on Nation Road in Acadia Parish

ACADIA PARISH, La. - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that beginning Monday, August 19, 2024 construction will begin on the $780,000 Nation Road bridge replacement project in Acadia Parish.
This project will consist of removing the existing bridge, earthwork, drainage structures, milling asphalt concrete, class II base course, lime treatment, installation of reinforced concrete box culverts (Precast), asphalt concrete, and related work.
As part of the work, the section of Nation Road, located 0.5 miles south of La. 35, will be closed to the traveling public.
Construction will take place Monday through Friday form 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting
A detour route will be posted utilizing La. 35 (Church Point Hwy), Coin Road, and La. 98 (Grand Prairie Hwy).
Emergency vehicles will NOT have access to this area during the planned road closure event.
The project is estimated for completion in December 2024.
