Covington, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that construction will begin on a $1.1 million highway resurfacing project on a 1.7-mile segment of US 190B (W. 21st Ave.) in Covington on Monday, July 22.

The project includes removing and repaving the asphalt driving surface, striping, and related works on US 190B between LA 21 (N. Tyler St.) and US 190 (Ronald Reagan Hwy).

The initial set of closures required to perform the work will occur weekdays between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., July 22 through August 2. During these hours, one lane will remain open, and traffic will be maintained in both directions. Workers will use a flagging operation to keep traffic moving.

There will be no restrictions for emergency vehicles. Motorists are likely to encounter delays during work hours.

The project is estimated to be completed by late summer/early fall of this year, weather permitting.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to drive cautiously through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
