Iberville Parish- The Bayou Grosse Tete Bridge repair process is now underway after sustaining damage from a recent vessel collision on June 6. A preconstruction meeting was held on June 14, followed by the issuance of a notice to proceed on June 15. The contractor has deployed a work barge to the site and is currently working on removing all mechanical equipment and hydraulic lines from the pier.

This phase of the repair project is expected to be completed by June 28. Following the equipment removal, the contractor will focus on repairing the pier itself, a task that is estimated to be complete in 4-6 months. The bridge remains closed to vehicular traffic until further notice.

The Iberville Parish Government has opened a pedestrian ferry to assist the community. The operating hours for the pedestrian ferry are 5:00-9:00 AM and 3:00-8:00 PM, seven days a week. For more information on the pedestrian ferry including pick-up and drop-off locations, please contact the Iberville Parish Government at 225-687-5190 or visit https://ibervilleparish.com.

The repair efforts for the Bayou Grosse Tete Bridge are a top priority for DOTD and we are committed to restoring vehicular connectivity as swiftly and safely as possible. DOTD appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation during this period and will continue to provide updates on the progress.
