UPDATE - LA 521 bridge replacement project, Claiborne Parish
(UPDATE 10/22/2025): DOTD advises motorists that work is complete on replacing the three bridges included in this project along LA 521 near Dykesville in Claiborne Parish and the roadway is back open to traffic.

Previous notification:
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that beginning on Monday, June 3, 2024, the second of three bridges on LA 521 in Claiborne Parish will close as part of an ongoing project to replace three structures on this route.
The bridge over Indian Creek will close for removal and replacement, which will take approximately 5 months, weather permitting.
The closure for this bridge replacement is located between LA 2 Alternate and LA 615, about 3 miles north of Dykesville.
The other two bridges are over Little Indian Creek (currently under construction), and Sand Creek drain (see included maps for specific locations).
The entire project (all three bridges) is anticipated to be complete in Fall 2025, with progress dependent on weather conditions and other factors that can impact construction timelines.
Restrictions/Permits: Total road closure at the specified location. All vehicles will need to utilize an alternate route.
Alternate Route: Motorists will be detoured via US 79 from LA 615 and LA 2 Alternate, and back to the existing detour.
