New Orleans—The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) provides an update regarding the LA 47 (Paris Road) Green Bridge. The contractor has completed the first set of full weekend closures, and further full weekend closures are not scheduled until August.

"We understand the inconvenience caused by lane closures, and we are actively working with our contractors to minimize the need for full closures on weekends," said LADOTD Area Engineer Justin Guilbeau. "While some alternating lane closures will be necessary throughout the summer, we are committed to minimizing disruptions. Additionally, any upcoming full closures will be announced to the public at least two weeks in advance."

Residents can get the latest updates on the Green Bridge project by signing up for the free MyDOTD messaging alert system by visiting DOTD.LA.GOV and clicking the MyDOTD icon.

The restoration work on the Green Bridge is a comprehensive project that involves refurbishing its concrete and structural steel components, repainting, and thorough cleaning. The iconic green paint, a symbol of our community, will once again grace the structure, just as it did at its grand opening in 1967, inviting motorists to be a part of its rich history.

“A full closure may be needed over the summer, depending on progress,” said Guilbeau. “Regardless, we are aware of residents’ needs and will work thoroughly to do our best to meet them.”

The project is expected to be completed in spring 2025, weather permitting.
