UPDATE (5/21/27): LA 589 has been reopened to all through traffic as of 2:00 PM on May 21, 2024.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that LA 589 in West Carroll Parish will experience various lane closures on Monday, May 27, 2024. The lane closures will be between the intersection of LA 589 and Burrell Road and approximately 0.57 miles from the intersection of LA 589 and LA 17. The lane closures are required to perform asphalt paving. This work will be weather permitting.
LA 589 in West Carroll Parish will be closed to all through traffic from Monday, May 13, 2024 through Monday, May 20, 2024. The LA 589 closure will be between the intersection of LA 589 and Burrell Road and approximately 0.57 miles from the intersection of LA 589 and LA 17. The road closure is required to remove and replace an existing drainage structure. The closure is expected to take 7 calendar days, weather permitting.

Restrictions: There are no restrictions to traffic at this time.
Detour: Formal detour routes are not required at this time. LA 589 will be open to all traffic.
