Traffic to Shift to New Overpass as College Dr. Flyover Project Progresses

Baton Rouge, LA - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that traffic on I-10 westbound near I-12 will be shifted to a new overpass on Wednesday, April 24. This shift marks another milestone in the ongoing College Flyover project.
Starting at 5 a.m. on Wednesday, traffic will be shifted to the right, beginning just west of the I-12 eastbound exit from I-10 westbound. To ensure a smooth transition, construction crews will complete all necessary barrier placements and temporary road marking overnight on April 23. As a result, a right lane closure will be in effect on I-10 westbound from Essen Lane to College Drive between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. on April 23.
The newly constructed overpass is located adjacent to the existing overpass that crosses over I-12 eastbound near the I-10 and I-12 merge. Once the traffic on I-10 westbound has been moved to the new structure, crews will begin preparations to widen the existing overpass. This will allow for the addition of a separate exit lane for College Drive. Tentatively scheduled for mid-May, the demolition work required for the widening project will necessitate an overnight closure of I-12 eastbound.
Upon completion of the project, I-12 westbound will be reconfigured to pass beneath the new overpass, running adjacent to I-12 eastbound traffic. A dedicated College Drive exit lane for I-12 westbound will merge with the I-10 westbound College Drive exit lane, forming a new exit ramp that will be separated from I-10 traffic.
DOTD would like to express its gratitude for your patience throughout the construction process. We remind motorists to exercise caution while driving through the work zone and to remain vigilant for work crews and their equipment.
