DOTD announces start of $4M construction project to replace three timber bridges in St. Martin Parish

ST. MARTIN PARISH, La. - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that beginning on February 21, 2024 construction will commence on a $4,146.124.20 million dollar bridge replacement project along La. 321 from La. 351 to La. 347.
This project will consist of the following work:
- Removal of three existing timber bridges
- Installation of a new concrete slab span bridge
- Class II base course
- Asphalt concrete surfacing
- Installation of drainage structures and related work
Construction work is estimated to take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.
As part of the project, La. 321 will be closed at three separate locations to allow crews to remove and replace the existing bridge at three separate bridge sites. The road closure locations include the following:
- Location 1: 0.70 miles west of La. 347
- Location 2: 1.1 miles south of La. 351
- Location 3: 0.25 miles south of La. 351
Beginning at 7 a.m. on February 21, 2024, La. 321 will be closed at Location 1 to thru traffic, including emergency vehicles. The road closure at Location 1 is estimated to reopen to traffic in April 2024.
Road closures will be limited to one bridge site at a time and will be continuous from one location to the next. A detour route will be posted for each of the road closure locations, respectively.
Notifications for road closures at Location 2 and Location 3 will be sent at a latter date.
The project is estimated to be complete in November of 2024.
