DOTD announces start of $2.2M construction project to rehabilitate three bridges over Bayou Teche in St. Mary Parish

ST. MARY PARISH, La. - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) announces that beginning Monday, January 29, 2024 work will begin on a $2,167,423.75 project to preserve the Sorrel, Katy and Rizzo Bridges over the Bayou Teche in St. Mary Parish.
Through DOTD’s Off-System Bridge Program, the St. Mary Parish-owned bridges will undergo electrical and mechanical repairs, and related work.
Work is expected to take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., weather permitting.
Bridge closures are expected throughout the project. The department will publish additional press releases for these planned bridge closures.
This project is estimated for completion in January 2025.
The purpose of DOTD’s Off-System Bridge Program is to replace or rehabilitate structurally deficient or functionally obsolete parish structures in a cost efficient manner.
