The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD), along with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), is proposing construction of a new highway north of the West Monroe and Monroe corporate limits.  This highway would connect Louisiana Highway 143 (LA 143) in the west with U.S. Highway 165 (US 165) to the east, and includes a new Ouachita River bridge crossing near Bayou Chauvin.  The LADOTD encourages the public to attend the public meeting for this project at the following time and place:

The purpose of this public meeting is to provide an update on the project, including alternatives screening, travel demand, tolling, and other pertinent issues.  This meeting also offers the public an opportunity to provide comments that will help the study team further alternatives development.  In addition, the public meeting is an opportunity for any interested parties to request participation in Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act consultation to address cultural and historical resource issues related to the project. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) process for conducting Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 will also be described.  Comments are requested on the purpose and need for the project, issues that should be considered in the EIS being prepared by the LADOTD for the FHWA, and other concerns related to the project.  Informational handouts, maps, and graphic displays will be available at the public meeting. Representatives from LADOTD, FHWA, and the consultant team will be present to receive comments and discuss issues. Verbal comments will be recorded.

Written statements received at the public meeting or mailed to the address below, if postmarked by March 22, 2013, will become part of the record of this public meeting.
