PROJECT UPDATE: US 165 from Henry Ave to US 425 in Morehouse Parish
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises the public that the US 165 overlay project in the City of Bastrop, Morehouse Parish is moving forward and continues to make progress.
The $5.5 million project stretches from Henry Avenue to US 425 South, providing reconstruction repairs to a little over 3 miles of busy roadway.
To date, the contractor has completed patching the existing roadway subbase, an important step in the process because the subbase helps spread the vehicle load evenly as motorists drive over the pavement.
The installation of the new asphalt surfacing is also complete. Currently, there are active lane closures in place throughout the project in order to safely install handicap sidewalk ramps, and adjust manholes and catch basins that are located adjacent to or within the travel lanes.
Once this work is done, the contractor will install permanent signage and striping, as well as pedestrian crosswalk facilities throughout the project.
Work on the project began in April 2023, and is estimated to be complete in Spring 2024 (weather permitting), which coincides with the original timeline for the project.
DOTD understands that construction projects can bring inconveniences and frustrations for motorists. But the goal is always to provide a high-quality product to the traveling public while also adhering to the construction schedule as closely as possible.
We appreciate your patience while these necessary repairs are underway.
