    Comments
The Dularge Bascule Bridge on LA 315 crossing the Intracoastal Canal Waterway (ICWW) in Houma, LA is closed to vehicular traffic in both directions due to a marine vessel allision with the movable bridge spans. Damage was sustained to the span locking mechanism(s) that lock the two (2) leafs of the bascule bridge together in the down position. The vessel that hit the bridge was the "Diamond Lugger" owned by Diamond B Marine Services, pushing a barge and crane owned by Weeks Marine, Inc. Initial reports indicate that the vessel captain had not asked for a bridge opening, with the intent of passing under the spans with enough clearance under the span. DOTD bridge maintenance and inspection personnel are assessing the damage to determine what course of action is necessary to get the bridge operational and re-opened to vehicular traffic.
