I-55 Update

Tangipahoa / St. John-- DOTD wants to advise motorists that they may see contractors mobilizing equipment on I-55 southbound, between Ponchatoula and Laplace, starting today, October 27, 2023. Those crews will begin temporary repair work on the southbound lanes this weekend, and it may take up to two weeks to complete.
There are no additional closures to note. Southbound lanes remain open, and they will taper into one lane near the site of Monday’s accident. Currently, the left lane is open. Once temporary repairs are complete in the right lane, it will open, and the left lane will close for repairs. The entire northbound portion remains completely closed.
DOTD and a third-party consultant have completed their separate inspections and are analyzing the data. The results of those inspections will determine the extent of permanent repairs needed for both the north and southbound lanes.
