****NOW OPEN: LA 551 in Union Parish****
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that beginning on Saturday, October, 21, 2023, LA 551 will be closed to thru traffic approximately 4.75 miles north of its intersection with LA 33 in Union Parish. This road closure is necessary to allow for the replacement of drainage culverts.
The LA 551 road closure is anticipated to last 2 days, and should be reopened Sunday, October 22, 2023.
This work will be performed WEATHER PERMITTING.
DOTD reminds motorists to NEVER drive around ‘road closed’ barricades at any time for any reason.
Permit/Detour:
The detour route will be LA 551, LA 33, LA 348 and LA 549.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
