UPDATE - REOPENED: US 165 at LA 134, Sterlington, Ouachita Parish

(Original notification 8/21/22023):
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that, effective immediately, the southbound right lane of US 165 at the intersection of LA 134/Keystone Road in Sterlington, Ouachita Parish is closed.
This closure is necessary to allow DOTD crews to conduct repairs to US 165 that occurred as a result of joint buckling due to extreme heat.
This type of buckling – or ‘blow-up’ as it’s commonly called – happens when the roadway surface expands at a crack or joint where moisture has seeped in. Prolonged periods of extremely hot temperatures cause the pavement to buckle up and warp.
The lane is anticipated to be reopened late Tuesday, August 22, 2023.
