DOTD announces start of emergency project to replace a cross drain on La. 70 in St. Mary Parish

MORGAN CITY, La. - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that beginning Monday, August 21, work will begin on an emergency project to replace a cross drain on La. 70 in Morgan City in St. Mary Parish.
The cross drain to be replaced is located between the intersection of La. 70 and Robin Street, and the intersection of La. 70 and Fig Street.
Work will consist of removing the existing cross drain pipe, installing a new cross drain pipe, backfilling, new asphalt and related work.
The road will be open to regular traffic with alternating one-lane traffic, controlled by portable traffic signals, from the intersection of La. 70 and Robin Street, to 0.29 miles southwest of the intersection of La. 70 and Fig Street.
Additionally, there will be a 10-foot width restriction.
Emergency vehicles will have access to the area, but will encounter delays.
This project is estimated for completion in September 20, 2023.
