Metairie, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that beginning Monday, August 14, 2023, construction will start on a $2.7 million major reconstruction project of a 2.5-mile section of River Road (LA 611) between Monticello Avenue and Jefferson Heights Avenue in Metairie.
The project includes removing and repaving the asphalt driving surface, drainage and sidewalk access improvements, pavement striping, and related works.
Single-lane closures are required to perform the work. To limit inconvenience, lane closures will only occur on weekdays from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. During these hours, one lane will remain open and traffic will be maintained in both directions. Workers will use a flagging operation to keep traffic moving.
Drivers wishing to avoid the construction can use Jefferson Highway (US 90) or Earhart Expressway (LA 3139) as alternate routes.
The estimated completion date is late 2023.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to drive cautiously through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
