The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), advises the public that on Wednesday, July 5th, 2023 construction will begin on LA 1226’s Bayou Chevreuille Bridge in Natchitoches Parish and it will be closed to through traffic. This work will take place 0.45 miles south of the intersection of LA 1226 and US Hwy 84 E.
The intent of this project is to remove and replace the Bayou Chevreuille Bridge on LA 1226. Related work will includes removing the existing timber trestle bridge, grading drainage structures, milling asphalt concrete, placing riprap, class II base course, pavement patching, hot mixed asphalt concrete overlay, concrete slab span bridge, permanent striping and other related work.
The public is advised to remain alert to construction signs and changing roadway conditions along LA 1226.
The project was awarded to the low bidder, Merrick, LLC, of Cottonport, LA in the amount of $2,604,114.00 and will take approximately 125 working days to complete.
Permit/Detour section
Eastbound traffic will be detoured north on US 71 then east on US 84 then west on LA 1226.
Westbound traffic will be detoured west on US 84 then south on US 71 then east on LA 1226.
