New Orleans, LA - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that repair work is underway to the Senator Ted Hickey Bridge (LA 1264), and a new estimated completion date of July 7, 2023, has been announced.

An emergency contractor is working to repair structural damage to the support base of the bridge identified during an inspection. Federal safety regulations mandated that the bridge be closed until a repair was completed.

“This is an unfortunate and inconvenient circumstance,” said Scott Boyle, DOTD District Administrator. “Safety is our highest priority, and when a bridge does not meet safety standards, it must be closed until we resolve the issue. We’ve been working as quickly as possible and understand that the community is anxious to open the bridge again.”
