The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that on Tuesday, September 13th, 2022, construction is expected to begin on a $75.7 million project to remove and replace the I-10 Overpass bridges over US 165.
This project will include bridge, roadway, concrete barrier, cable barrier, and related work over 5 miles of the interstate in both directions.
The interstate will be widened from two to four lanes, which will include three thru lanes and one eastbound and westbound off ramp.
Along with replacement of the I-10 Overpass bridges, improvement work will be done on all frontage roads, as well as four existing ramps.
Prior to construction beginning, work crews can be seen in the area mobilizing equipment and performing work allowed during the preliminary stages of the project.
As construction phases begin and end, notifications will be sent out to the public advising motorists of any lane closures and/or lane shifts.
This project will include daytime and nighttime work. There will be no lane closures on I-10 during the day, but the area will be reduced to one lane at night. Motorists can expect intermittent single lane closures during the day on both the northbound and southbound directions of US 165 throughout the duration of the project.
Weather depending, this project is expected to be completed in Fall 2024.
Safety Reminder:
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
