Lower Anacoco Lake Drawdown Update, Vernon Parish The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) advises the public that Lower Anacoco Lake in Vernon Parish recently went through a planned drawdown per the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) lake management plan.
LDWF requested the management gate be closed to end the drawdown on January 15, 2022.
DOTD personnel began closing the management gate to allow the lake to refill to pool stage and during this process, the gate malfunctioned and will not completely close.
DOTD is currently working as quickly as possible to install temporary measures to allow the lake to refill to pool stage while also allowing repairs to the management gate to take place.
The intent is to repair the gate without having to draw the lake
Additional information will be provided when the temporary measures are in place to allow the lake to refill.
