Please be advised that the subject Bridge Design Technical Memorandum (BDTM) has been approved by the Bridge Design Engineer Administrator and published on the DOTD Bridge Design Section website for implementation at:

Summary:
BDTM.107 - Luminaire Support Design and Detailing
This BDTM revises BDEM PART II, VOLUME 3 - STRUCTURAL SUPPORTS FOR HIGHWAY SIGNS AND LUMINAIRES and publishes a Luminaire Schedule to be used in plans.
Recent storm damage assessments have revealed damage to, and failure of, luminaire structural supports due to lack of wind load resistance. This BDEM addresses all lessons learned from such damage and failures.
This BDTM has the following attachments:
· Attachment A - Revised BDEM Part II, Volume 3 - Clean copy
· Attachment B - Revised BDEM Part II, Volume 3 - Redline copy
· Attachment C - Sample Luminaire Schedule and Usage Instructions
The following files will be made available on the Bridge Design Website:
· Luminaire Schedule (Excel Spreadsheet)
· Sample Luminaire Schedule and Usage Instructions
· Design-Regular.ttf - Design Font File
This email notification and BDTM are distributed to all DOTD in-house and consultant bridge designers.
This email notification is copied to those copied on the BDTM, and to Consultant Contracts Services staff in order to distribute the e-mail and BDTM to consultant firms on the DOTD solicitation list. If you are listed as the Principle-In-Charge for a consultant firm, please inform your design staff of this BDTM.
