As part of the on-going US 167 J-turn project, DOTD announced today the next phase of construction at the intersection of US 167 (Johnston St. ) and LA 733 (E. Broussard Rd.)/W. Broussard Rd.
Beginning Thursday, August 19, at 7:30 p.m., LA 733 ( E. Broussard Rd.) and parish route W. Broussard Rd. at their intersection with US 167 (Johnston St.) will have a new traffic pattern.
Traffic approaching US 167 (Johnston St.) on LA 733 (E. Broussard Rd.)/W. Broussard Rd. will not be allowed to cross US 167. Traffic will be required to make a right turn using newly installed dual right turn lanes and proceed to the newly installed J-turn signal. This traffic pattern will be permanent.
Additionally, traffic on US 167 (Johnston St.) approaching LA 733 (E. Broussard Rd.) and W. Broussard Rd. will not be allowed to make a left-hand turn. Traffic will continue to travel further down US 167 to the newly installed J-turn signal to assess LA 733 (E. Broussard Rd.)/W. Broussard Rd. This traffic pattern is estimated to be in place for approximately three months, weather permitting. Once crews have completed the necessary work at this intersection, motorists traveling on US 167 will be able to return making a left-hand turn on La. 733.
Construction crews will also be re-striping travel lanes on LA 733 (E. Broussard Rd.)/W. Broussard Rd. on Thursday August 19, 2021 from 7:30 pm until 6:00 am on Friday August 20, 2021.
Emergency vehicles will have access to the area.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
