ACADIA PARISH, La. - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that beginning March 22, 2021, construction will begin on a $575,000 project to remove and replace the Mermentau boat launch located underneath the U.S. 90 overpass on the Mermentau River in Acadia Parish.
The project will include grading, class II base course, replace boat ramp, and related work.
The work is estimated to take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.
The boat launch will be closed during construction operations beginning March 22, 2021. This closure is necessary to remove and replace the existing launch.
Alternative public boat launch sites for the Mermentau River include the La. 91 boat launch at the Pontoon Bridge, and the Lake Arthur boat launch located underneath the La. 14 overpass. There will be no impact to marine traffic.
The project is estimated for completion in June 2021.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
