Ascension Parish- The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that work on the Bayou Manchac and Bayou Francois Bridge Replacement Project in East Baton Rouge and Ascension Parishes is progressing.
Construction on the Bayou Francois bridge is complete and open to thru traffic. Crews are currently working on driving piles on the northbound lanes of the Bayou Manchac bridge and will begin setting the girders and pouring the bridge caps in the coming weeks.
There will be intermittent lane closures beginning Thursday, January 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bayou Manchac bridge on U.S. 61, one-mile north of LA 427 (Perkins Road). Motorists traveling northbound should expect a single right lane closure to allow the contractor to receives concrete piles.
Construction on this $9.96 million bridge replacement project began October 2019 and is anticipated to be completed spring 2021, weather dependent.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
