DOTD completes hurricane debris removal in east central region
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that all hurricane debris has been removed from state roadways in the east central region (Caldwell and LaSalle Parishes) following the impacts of Hurricane Laura, which made landfall on August 27, 2020.
Crews began debris pickup on September 4, 2020 and since then, have removed nearly 18,000 cubic yards of vegetative storm debris caused by Hurricane Laura from state maintained routes in Caldwell and LaSalle Parishes. Statewide, crews have removed more than 2.4 million cubic yards of debris from state right-of-way.
Debris removal operations in Caldwell and LaSalle Parishes were completed on December 6, 2020.
Hurricane debris removal efforts are still ongoing in other parishes across the state impacted by the storms.
