DOTD announces upcoming construction project to rehabilitate Bayou Teche Bridge (La. 336-1) in St. Martin Parish

Breaux Bridge, LA - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that beginning October 12, 2020 construction will begin on a $4.8 million project to rehabilitate Bayou Teche Bridge on La. 336-1 (East Bridge Street) in St. Martin Parish.
The project will include structural, electrical, and mechanical repairs, as well as other renovations including cleaning and repainting of the bridge structure.
Work will take place seven days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., weather permitting.
The Bayou Teche Bridge will be closed for the duration of the rehabilitation project. No vehicle traffic will be allowed during the closure. Marine closures will also be necessary at times to facilitate construction.
Press releases will be issued to notify the public of these marine closures. Emergency vehicles will have not access to the area during construction, therefore, may encounter delays.
The detour for eastbound traffic will consist of LA 336-1 (E. Bridge Street) West to LA 31 (Berard Street, north to LA 94 (West Mills Avenue) eastbound to LA 328 (Rees Street) south to LA 336-1 (East Bridge Street).
The detour for westbound traffic will consist of LA 328 (Rees Street), north to LA 94 (West Mills Avenue), west to LA 31 (Berard Street), south to LA 336-1 (East Bridge Street).
Detour routes will be posted accordingly.
The project is estimated to be complete in July 2021.
