UPDATE: Commercial vehicle ban lifted in I-20 major rehab project work zone, Bossier Parish BOSSIER CITY – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that the commercial motor vehicle (CMV) prohibition that was in effect for the I-20 major rehabilitation project construction zone in Bossier City has officially been lifted.
The CMV ban applied to the I-20 work zone from Hamilton Road to Industrial Drive in Bossier City due to narrow lane widths at several of the bridges when lane closures were in place for reconstruction of the travel lanes.
The goal of the ban was to improve safety for drivers of both passenger vehicles and CMVs by requiring those larger vehicles to utilize I-220 as the alternate route.
Drivers of commercial motor vehicles such as 18-wheelers and school buses are now able to legally drive through the I-20 work zone in Bossier City.
DOTD appreciates the patience and understanding of CMV drivers as construction progressed throughout the I-20 project.

As a reminder, final project tasks such as the application of permanent roadway striping are currently underway. Drivers should be aware that intermittent lane closures are necessary in order to safely and efficiently complete this work.
These final work items are anticipated to wrap up in late-May/early June 2026, weather permitting.
