UPDATE - NIGHTTIME LANE CLOSURES: Jimmie Davis Bridge project (LA 511) in Caddo & Bossier Parishes (UPDATE 6/1/2026): DOTD advises motorists the nighttime lane closures as part of the ongoing Jimmie Davis Bridge (LA 511) project in Caddo & Bossier Parishes are still in effect.
The lane closures, which take place Monday-Saturday from 6:00pm - 6:00am, are expected to remain in place until approximately Saturday, June 20, 2026.
At that time, the lane closures will be removed while painting of the existing bridge is underway. Once painting is complete, the lane closures will resume to allow for the containment system to be removed.
DOTD will send additional updates when future lane closures resume for containment system removal.

CADDO/BOSSIER PARISHES – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that nighttime lane closures have been scheduled related to ongoing construction for the new Jimmie Davis Bridge (LA 511) project over the Red River in Caddo and Bossier Parishes.
These lane closures will take place over the existing bridge beginning on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. nightly for approximately 2-3 months, weather permitting.
Traffic crossing the bridge will be managed through the use of flagging/pilot car operations.
The purpose of this work is to erect a painting containment structure on the bridge.
Other construction activities continue on the $361 million project, which involves build a new 4-lane bridge over the Red River, along with widening and realigning LA 511 (Jimmie Davis Hwy/E 70th Street).
