LAFAYETTE, La. -- The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that all emergency work to repair the I-10 eastbound overpass girder at I-49 in Lafayette, Louisiana is now complete.

The following ramps/lane are now re-opened:
  • Interstate 10 eastbound overpass auxiliary lane (deceleration/acceleration lane)
  • I-49 northbound exit ramp from I-10 (Exit 103B)
  • Exit 1A to access I-10 eastbound
The I-10 eastbound overpass at I-49 was impacted in December 2024 resulting in damage to the exterior girder on the eastbound bridge deck.

Work to repair the damaged overpass began in January 2025 and included removing the damaged girder from the I-10 overpass structure utilizing a crane, as well as installing the new girder. A new bridge deck was also fabricated in place once the new girder was installed.

The emergency contractors for this project were Lafayette based Huval & Associates, Inc. (design) and C.E.C., Inc. (construction).

DOTD appreciates the patience of the traveling public and reminds motorists to please drive with caution.
