LA 819 Road Closures/Work in Choudrant, LA

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that beginning Monday, October 7, 2024, LA 819 in the town of Choudrant will be closed at three locations: on LA 819-1 (Oak Street) approximately 0.09 miles south of its intersection with US 80; on LA 819-1 (Oak Street) at its junction with LA 819-5 (N Depot Street); and on LA 819-3 (Green Street) at its junction with LA 819-2 (Pecan Street). These closures are necessary to replace cross drains at these three locations and will be complete by end of day October 13, 2024.

These closures are the beginning phase of an ongoing construction project along the following five sections of LA 819: LA 819-1 (Oak Street) from LA 819-5 (Depot Street) to 0.06 miles north of its intersection with US 80; LA 819-2 (Pecan Street) from its junction with LA 819-3 (Green Street) to its junction with US 80; LA 819-3 (Green Street) from its junction with LA 819-2 (Pecan Street) to its junction with LA 819-1 (Oak Street); LA 819-4 (Allen Street) from its junction with LA 819-1 (Oak Street) to its junction with LA 145 (Elm Street); and LA 819-5 (N. Depot Street) from LA 819-1 (Oak Street) to its junction with LA 145 (Elm Street). This construction work will consist of clearing and grubbing, drainage structures, milling asphalt concrete, pavement patching, pavement widening, asphalt concrete overlay, and related work.
After this first week of closures, the traveling public can expect alternating daily lane closures.
