The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development repaired the Texas Street Brige on US 80 over the Red River in Caddo and Bossier Parishes through a rehabilitation project.
The $15.5 million project went to bid in November 2018, with the contract awarded to Intech Contracting, LLC. The project provided a number of structural repairs, including the bridge deck and joints, pedestrian crosswalk repairs, and repairs to other steel components.
The bridge was also sandblasted and painted as part of the project, which helps prevent corrosion.
Work began in March 2019 following the contractor's assembly period. In order to safely complete the work, various traffic phasing sequences, traffic shifts, and lane closures were required.
The Texas Street Bridge, also known as the Long-Allen Bridge, services approximately 12,000 vehicles per day, and serves as a main thoroughfare between downtown Shreveport and the commerical and residential areas in the western portion of Bossier City.
The entire rehabilitation project was substantially complete in Summer 2020. Some follow-up work continues into the Fall.
