The Department of Transportation and Development announced that on Friday, Aug. 21 it will begin repairs on Interstate 10 between La. 415 in Port Allen and the Iberville Parish line.

The repairs are needed to replace asphalt which was put down in the 1980s.

The repair work area will be located mainly on the outside eastbound and westbound lane with some locations taking place in both lanes. The scheduled closures were chosen to minimize traffic impacts and are as follows:
• Weekday overnight lane closure will occur Monday through Friday starting at 6:30 p.m. and ending at 6:30 a.m.
• Weekend-long lane closure will start on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and end on Monday at 6:30 a.m.

Additionally, a minimum of one lane will be open in each direction and there will be no closures on major holidays or during LSU and Southern University football home game weekends.

The repair work is anticipated to be completed within 60 working days, weather permitting.

During construction, motorists are encouraged to use the designated detour and the following travel resources.
