WINTER WEATHER UPDATE AND PLANNED ROAD/BRIDGE CLOSURES DUE TO SNOW AND ICE

The Department of Transportation and Development District 08 Office in Alexandria advises that the urban, elevated sections of I-49 in Alexandria, from Exit 80-MacArthur Drive (Jct. US 71/167) to Exit 94-Rapides Station (Jct. Parish Road 23) is being opened to traffic.

At this time, the National Weather Service and local forecasters are predicting minimal precipitation throughout the day today and into the evening. DOTD will continue to monitor roadway conditions on all roads and bridges in Central Louisiana. Should the need arise to close any roadway, YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED OF CLOSURES AS THEY OCCUR.

Effective at 1:00 p.m. today, all roads and bridges in Central Louisiana are open to traffic. This includes the following structures: the elevated portions of I-49 from exit 80 at MacArthur Drive to exit 94 at Rapides Station Road; this also includes the I-49 overpass bridges at Broadway Avenue, Sugarhouse Road and Cotton Gin Road along with the Richard Thompson/ LA 8 Bridge over the Red River Bridge at Boyce, the O. K. Allen Bridge, the Jackson Street Bridge, and the Purple Heart Bridge.
