DOTD announces lane closures at Huey P. Long Bridge

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces the Huey P. Long will experience lane closures from Tuesday, July 21 through Friday, July 24, 2015, for inspection and repair.

The closure schedule is as follows:
• Tues., July 21 and Weds., July 22 (Westbank bound) – One of three lanes closed at 6 a.m.; bridge reduced to one lane from approach to mid-span, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
• Thurs., July 23 and Fri., July 24 (Eastbank bound) – Bridge reduced to one lane from approach to mid-span, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Emergency and permit vehicles will have access.

Alternate Routes:
• I-10 East to U.S. 90 Business to Mississippi River Bridge to U.S. 90 (Westbank Expressway)
• I-10 West to I-310 South to Luling Bridge to U.S. 90

All planned construction activities are weather-dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to drive with caution through this and other highway work zones. Also, be alert for the presence of construction workers and equipment.

Additionally, motorists can utilize the "Way to Geaux" application to receive real-time, around the clock travel alerts. The hands-free, eyes-free “smart phone” application can be downloaded on any iPhone or Android device by visiting either the iTunes App Store, or Google Play.
