DOTD announces the opening of the Veterans on-ramps at the Causeway Interchange Project

METAIRIE, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces the opening of two new on-ramps from Veterans Memorial Boulevard, east and west bound, to the Causeway interchange. The new ramps are scheduled to open on Friday, January 11, at approximately 12 noon.

All east and west bound traffic can now enter Interstate 10 from Veterans Boulevard, ground level. Traffic had been detoured to Severn Avenue, for west bound traffic, and Bonnabel Boulevard, for east bound traffic.

Once the new ramps open, the Severn detour will remain open for approximately one week pending the contractors schedule to deactivate. Additionally, drivers will no longer be encouraged to make the illegal U-turn at South Causeway Boulevard.

Some minor roadwork remains to be done before the completion of the project. The project is expected to wrap by the end of the month, barring delays due to inclement weather.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is committed to delivering transportation and public works systems that enhance the quality of life.
