DOTD reschedules weekend lane and ramp closures for I-10 repairs project; schedule will resume on Friday, July 10

SLIDELL, La. – Due to forecasted inclement weather and the upcoming holiday, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces it will reschedule this weekend’s planned lane and ramp closures for the project to repave Interstate 10 from French Branch Bridge to the West Pearl River Bridge, in St. Tammany Parish. There was no work planned during the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

The weekend closure schedule will resume on Friday, July 10 through Sunday, July 13, 2015. Details will be announced prior to the closure. Work on the project will continue with planned weekday construction activity on Sunday, June 28, 2015, through Thursday, July 2, 2015, (weather permitting). There will be alternating closures of the inside (left) and outside (right) lanes on the I-10/ I-12/I-59 interstates while crews remove and replace the roadway at the following locations:

• I-10 Eastbound between the French Branch Bridge (Mile Post 267.14) (just north of Gause Blvd.) and the West Pearl River Bridge (Mile Post 269.81) (near the I-10 Welcome Center) from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. All lanes will be open between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily.
• I-10 Westbound between the French Branch Bridge (Mile Post 267.14) (just north of Gause Blvd.) and the West Pearl River Bridge (Mile Post 269.81) (near the I-10 Welcome Center) from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. All lanes will be open between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. daily.
• I-59 Southbound between the I-10/I-59 split (Mile Post 0) and I-59 Rest Area (Mile Post 1) from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. All lanes will be open from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. daily.
• I-59 Northbound between the I-10/I-59 split (Mile Post 0) and I-59 Rest Area (Mile Post 1) from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 noon Sunday through Thursday. All lanes will be open from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m. daily.
• I-12 Eastbound between the I-59 underpass (Mile Post 85.54) and I-10 merge (Mile Post 86.28) from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. All lanes will be open between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily.

One lane of traffic will remain open at all times. No oversized loads greater than 12 feet wide will be allowed through the construction zone during lane closures.

Motorists should expect delays and plan routes accordingly. Those wanting to utilize U.S. 90 as a detour should be aware that there are load restrictions on the Pearl River Bridges, which only allow for passenger vehicles. No larger truck traffic will be allowed.

The planned construction activities are weather-dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. All work is expected to be completed by late spring or early summer 2016.
