DOTD and Senator Perry announce re-opening of Perry Bridge

Abbeville, LA - The Louisiana DOTD, in conjunction with Louisiana State Senator Jonathan Perry, announces that La. 82 at the Perry Bridge is now open to traffic.
The bridge was closed on December 1, 2014 in order for crews to perform necessary mechanical repairs.
"It was certainly with great anticipation that I was informed the Perry Bridge has re-opened. The closing for nearly 7 months has been challenging to the residents as well as the businesses that rely on this passage,” said Senator Jonathan Perry. “I appreciate the Louisiana DOTD for working diligently with the contractor. Moving forward, I am taking steps to work with the Department to review its policies and procedures in terms of the possible acceleration of construction for critical structures serving as vital thoroughfares.”
The $1.1 million project involved replacing all bridge motors, as well as 17,000 feet of wiring.
