SLIDELL, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces alternating lane and ramp closures for a $40 million repair project on Interstate 10 from French Branch Bridge to the West Pearl River Bridge, in St. Tammany Parish, this weekend.

Beginning Friday, June 12, 2015, through Monday, June 15, 2015 (weather permitting), there will be closures of the inside (left) and outside (right) lanes on the I-10/I-12 interstates while crews remove and replace the roadway. This weekend, I-10 eastbound will incur significant impacts with traffic queues possibly reaching beyond the Twin Span Bridge.

Work will be performed at the following locations:

• I-10 eastbound outside-right lane between the French Branch Bridge (Mile Post 267.14, just south of the Gause Boulevard Overpass) and the West Pearl River Bridge (Mile Post 269.81, near the I-10/Slidell Welcome Center) from 6 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2015, to 10 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2015. All lanes will be re-open Monday, June 15, 2015, at 10 a.m.
• I-10 westbound inside-left lane between the West Pearl River Bridge (Mile Post 269.81, near the I-10/Slidell Welcome Center) and the French Branch Bridge (Mile Post 267.14, just west of La. 1090 Overpass) from 6 p.m. to 11 a.m., daily. All lanes will re-open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• I-12 eastbound inside-left lane between I-59 Overpass (Mile Post 85.00) and the I-10/I-12 merge (Mile Post 85.72) from 5 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2015, to 11 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2015. All lanes will be re-open Monday, June 15, 2015, at 11 a.m.

One lane of traffic will remain open at all times. No oversized loads will be allowed through the construction zone during lane closures.

Motorists should expect delays and plan routes accordingly. Those wanting to utilize U.S. 90 as a detour should be aware that there are load restrictions on the Pearl River Bridges which only allow for passenger vehicles. No larger truck traffic will be allowed.

The planned construction activities are weather-dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. All work is expected to be completed by late spring or early summer 2016.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to drive with caution through this and other highway work zones. Also, be alert for the presence of construction workers and equipment.
