I-10 Mississippi River Bridge closed for debris removal

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development reports that all eastbound lanes and two westbound lanes of the I-10 Mississippi River Bridge in Baton Rouge are closed until further notice while crews remove debris.

Pieces of sheet metal debris from the ongoing spot-painting project fell during the recent bad weather and high winds in the Baton Rouge area this morning.

Crews have removed the debris but lanes remain closed while the contractor inspects and secures the remaining equipment. No timeframe on when the bridge will open is available at this time.

Detour: Traffic is being diverted at LA-1 (Port Allen). Detour at LA-415 (Lobdell Highway) North to US 190 East to the Old Mississippi River Bridge.
