DOTD advises motorists of projected congestion on I-210 near the Nelson Road area due to holiday related activities

LAKE CHARLES, La. – Today, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advised motorists of projected traffic congestion on I-210 near the Nelson Road area due to on-going construction projects and peak travel for holiday related activities.
Drivers are encouraged to be on alert for slow-moving or stopped vehicles near the Nelson Road exits. Additionally, motorists should follow these driving safety tips:
- Minimize distractions
- Stay alert
- Follow posted speed limits
- Allow for extra driving time
- Be patient
- Make sure there is plenty of room between vehicles
- Expect the unexpected
