Paths to Progress to hold informational meeting for upcoming Algiers project

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development’s Paths to Progress Program will host a neighborhood informational meeting to discuss upcoming repairs to the following street segments:

  • Newton Street (Whitney Avenue – Behrman Avenue)
  • General DeGaulle Drive (Holiday Drive – Woodland Drive)

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 23 at 6 p.m., at the Algiers Regional Library, 3014 Holiday Drive, New Orleans, LA 70131. Please use the main entrance from Holiday Drive to access the library parking lot.

Construction of the $3 million project is anticipated to begin next month. Road repairs will include pavement removal and replacement, repairing curbs and installing ADA-compliant accessible ramps. Improvements to the Newton Street segment will also include driveway and sidewalk repairs and landscaping.

Business owners, elected officials and all interested residents are encouraged to attend the informational meeting to find out more about the schedule and construction events that will take place in their area.

Project personnel will be on hand to provide the latest information on Paths to Progress, details of the upcoming street repairs and a construction schedule. The meeting will commence with a brief presentation, followed by an opportunity to ask questions and view project maps and other materials.
