DOTD’s Paths to Progress receives second consecutive CMAA Project Achievement Award

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development’s Paths to Progress recently received honors at the 3rd Annual Construction Management Association of America Gulf Coast Chapter Infrastructure Conference held in New Orleans earlier this month.
CMAA presented Paths to Progress Program Managers Jeff Burst, DOTD and John Basilica, Jr., HNTB Corporation the 2014 Project Achievement Award in the “Program Management – Infrastructure” category for demonstrating technical excellence in the practice of construction management. This is the second consecutive year that Paths to Progress is awarded for the successful delivery of infrastructure improvements in the Gulf Coast region, specifically Greater New Orleans.
Last year, DOTD and engineering firm HNTB were recognized for the program management of the Paths to Progress French Quarter projects valued at $11.3 million. The technical knowledge and innovation implemented to manage the multiple, complex projects of Paths to Progress earned the program its second CMAA Project Achievement Award. Within the last 14 months, the program has started and completed nearly $38 million of roadway improvements in Orleans and Jefferson parishes. In addition, more than 30 miles of new pavement has been laid along segments of central business and residential corridors as well as federal aid routes.
Burst expressed gratitude to CMAA for providing a platform to promote and recognize program and construction management professionals. “It is an incredible honor to receive the CMAA project achievement award for a second consecutive year. Paths to Progress is such a special program because of the tremendous teamwork involved. From our federal and local partners to the consultants and contractors who continuously work together to improve the infrastructure of Greater New Orleans, the success of this program is attributed to their efforts. We happily accept this award and thank CMAA for their support and recognition.”

With a combined investment of over $90 million, Paths to Progress is a coordinated effort between the Federal Highway Administration, DOTD, New Orleans Regional Planning Commission, City of New Orleans, Parish of Jefferson and City of Kenner. The program is slated to restore and enhance more than 60 roadway segments in Orleans and Jefferson parishes by March 2015.
