LAFOURCHE PARISH, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces the start of a $2.2 million project to overlay La. 304 from the intersection of La. 308 – north of Thibodaux – to the intersection of La. 20, in Chackbay, and La. 308 from the intersection of La. 304 to the Assumption Parish line. The project is designed to improve the condition of the existing roadway and will also address drainage.

Tomorrow, contractor Coast Bridge Company, LLC, will begin asphalt patching on La 308 between the Assumption Parish line and La. 304. The patching will continue on to La. 304 and stop at La. 20, and will be followed by an asphalt overlay of the entire route – La. 308 and La. 304.

As part of this project, Coastal Bridge will replace three drainage culverts under La. 308. During the week of January 20-24, La. 308 will be closed to through traffic between the La. 1247 Bridge in Labadieville and the La. 3185 Bridge in Thibodaux, while pipes are being replaced. Local traffic will be allowed to use La. 308 up to the worksite area. La. 308 will be opened to all traffic at night.

Alternate routes through the worksite are westbound, La. 3185 Bridge to La. 1 west, then La. 1247 Bridge; eastbound, La. 1247 Bridge to La. 1 east, then La. 3185 Bridge.

Motorists can expect intermittent lane closures during construction. Work is scheduled to be completed by May 2014.
