MANDEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces an update on the project to widen U.S. Highway 190 from La. 22 to Lonesome Road in St. Tammany Parish, an $11.3 million capacity improvement project.

Overnight closures of St. Joseph and St. Ann Streets at U.S. 190 continue through Thursday, November 21 between 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., nightly, as crews install roadway base and asphalt. Local alternate routes will be available during the closure. By law, oversize loads are not allowed to travel at night.

This week’s construction activities include the following.

·         Crews blasting, painting and setting tops on drainage structures between St. Joseph and St. Ann Streets

·         A concrete crew is pouring driveways, sidewalk tie-ins and handicapped ramps at spot locations between the between the beginning of the project limits (Service Road) to St. Ann Street

  • Asphalt base from St. Joseph Drive to a little east of St. Ann has been placed. Asphalt crews are scheduled to lay all binder course of the roadway for this location tonight. Additionally, asphalt will continue to be placed nightly – this week – as the remaining segments of the detour road for the next traffic configuration need asphalt.

·         Last week, bridge crews poured the second approach slab (eastside of the westbound bridge) and installing the last bit of rip rap on the embankment of the new westbound bridge; crews sett grates and poured tops of all drainage structures between St. Joseph and St. Ann Street; sidewalk crew began pouring sidewalk and handicapped ramps at spot locations between the beginning of the project limits (Service Road) to St. Ann Street; a crew formed and poured business driveways between St. Joseph Street and the Post Office; and asphalt base for a segment of the eastbound roadway was primed, prepped and placed with more locations scheduled for this week.

All planned construction activities are weather-dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction zone and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
