The contractor, Jensen Construction Company, has been making good progress on the project since the last update. On July 20, 2010, the contractor made the first deck pour on the 975-foot main span of the bridge. This main span is broken into five sections. The contractor made a concrete pour on the first section, which was a total of 214-feet long. Since making this first pour, crews have been working diligently to get the remainder of the main span ready for his next concrete pour scheduled for August 10, 2010. During this next pour, we will be completing another 214-foot portion of bridge deck. A third section (193 feet) is scheduled for August 12, 2010. We will continue this pouring the last two sections of the main span before the end of August.
In addition to forming and pouring concrete on the main spans, crews have been forming up the approach spans, which comprise the remainder of the total bridge (1,879 feet). Once the contractor finishes pouring the remaining 904 feet of the approach spans, he will complete the barrier rail and place striping so that we can move traffic to the westbound lanes and begin removing the eastbound lanes.
Jensen Construction Company and DOTD appreciate the publics’ continued patience as we work to complete the rehabilitation of the Grand Ecore Bridge. The project is still on schedule to finish by July 2011.
