The contractor has been making excellent progress on the rehabilitation of the Grand Ecore Bridge. To date, the contractor has removed approximately 675 feet of the old concrete deck on the westbound lane of the main span, leaving approximately 300 feet of the westbound main span left to remove. While crews continue to remove the concrete deck, they will be installing the new stringers (metal beams that help to support the concrete roadway) in preparation for setting their forms for the new concrete deck. The contractor expects to finish all the westbound lane deck removal over the main span within the next 2 weeks.
In order to facilitate the installation of the new stringers, the contractor plans on closing down the bridge for two days during the week of April 19-25, 2010. The first closure will be April 19-20, 2010 from 11:30 p.m. until 4:30 a.m. The second closure will be April 20-21, 2010 from 11:30 p.m. until 4:30 a.m. During these closures, the traveling public should pay attention to the detour signs which direct them to alternate routes to avoid the Grand Ecore Bridge.
For up-to-date information on the progress of the project and the status for upcoming closures, the public can call the Grand Ecore Project Hotline at (318) 793-4445, 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week.
