The work on the Judge Seeber Bridge is on schedule to finish mid-May. Crews continue to refurbish the electrical and mechanical systems. The poles for the new bridge signals have been installed on the east side of the bridge.
The project has run into a few obstacles that delayed some of our work. The accident involving the vehicle that went off the bridge delayed work for a couple of days, and the U.S. Coast Guard halted our work so they could better align some of the marine shipping schedules. However, crews have been diligent in keeping the project on the mid-May target date. Near the end of this phase crews will test the upgrades to the bridge’s electrical and mechanical systems.
The next phase of the project will be the replacement of the bridge deck. This will require a future closer for an extended period of time. We have not determined the dates for this closure at this time. DOTD must take into consideration the impact on the community and the coming hurricane season to determine how best to complete the maintenance work in the safest manner for the community and with the least amount of impact.
We will update you with new information when we have it. DOTD thanks you for your patience throughout this process.
